Laura Leah Michael, LMT in the State of Florida #MA73153
Most know me as a music artist, dancer, singer, free spirit... I am also a healing artist. My greatest interest is and has always been to bring my soul and all others closest to our purest and greatest expression for what we each came here to do. This is what all Earth pursuits of mine are a branching out of. To this end, I have always been an avid student of self improvement, and ceaselessly educated myself on health in all its facets; nutrition, various forms of exercise & connecting on a conscious level with the body, ancient healing arts & wisdom systems, psychology, science's latest findings, dream interpretation, yoga, meditation.
I am mostly from Florida, and in 2007 I moved back from the New York City area, and found myself confronting physical ailments that made take a deeper look into how pathology works, and the ways it is created. I have always been very connected to mySelf, and when I get sick or an have an ailment show up, I see it as my body bringing me wisdom that something, be it in my life or in my thoughts, needs adjustment. I listen for the message that ailment is trying to bring to me, and in this way I have learned much. One can spend an entire lifetime learning in any field, and because it has always been an interest- my journey has taken me to deeper and deeper understandings of the human condition, and how the mind, body, and spirit are interweaved.
Along my quest I discovered the Chinese ancient healing art of Qigong, and got a certification in that around 2011. Then in February of 2012, I continued my healing-healer journey in taking a Reflexology course with Laura Norman's School of Reflexology, which propelled me into the decision to take a more serious step onto this path, and in May of 2012 I became a full-time student at Palm Beach State College for Massage Therapy. I feel very lucky for being directed to this program, as the quality of the education is set to a higher bar than most any other in the area, as I came to learn. I was introduced to a plethora of healing modalities, one of which was the ancient Hindu practice of balancing the body's energy centers through a session format called Satvic Polarity, which is used as part of the Ayurvedic system. This modality opened me up to listening to the subtler nuances that occur in a person's energy field, which with acute sensitivity can be easily felt and worked with. I loved this exploration so much that I offered it at every opportunity, and became known in class for it being 'my thing' ;) In doing this, I discovered something entirely different, and was intuitively taught the method of energy healing that I practice now, which has taught me how to effectively facilitate deep release of energetic patterns that cause physical discomforts.
Another incredible gem from the massage therapy program at PBSC was the deep look I got into the human body. Not only did I learn about it's structures and systems extensively through books, personal illustrations, and clay moldings we created to deepen our understanding. I was fortunate enough to have the once-in-a-lifetime experience of cadaver lab, in which I got to see and touch these structures for myself in their real, physical form. That experience gave me an understanding of the human system on a whole other level, and faced me with their realness and durable yet delicate nature. The journey was intensely difficult on both an academic and inner level, as it was designed to take us on our own inner healing journey; in accordance with the old revered wisdom that tells of how 'only to the level that one can heal oneself, can one be of healing to another'. It was tough, and I had to reach deep within me to pull the strength and power to succeed. Of 26 of us that started out in the program, 7 of us graduated, and I ended up pulling through with a final grade of 93%, and graduated with my class in December 2012. In June of 2013 I became licensed as a Massage Therapist in the state of Florida, and created "Divinity Heartistry" shortly after. Since then, I have enjoyed exploring what I have learned and learning more about the amazing complex systems that we are in each session.
